Abstract

The article discusses the subjective production and identity of black girls in the peripheries of São Paulo, Paris and New York, from the consideration regarding the body while multidimensional complexity (history, culture, symbolism, psyche). The empirical field research was conducted in the two world cities (São Paulo and Paris). The methodology consisted of participant and ethnographic observation, and interviews from the historical materialist social psychology. The films Antonia (Brazil, 2007) and Precious Jones (USA, 2009) served as analytical support. In New York the empirical field exclusively used the cinematic language. Results: black girls in São Paulo, Paris and New York announced on their identities important revolutions and changes in society.
