Abstract
Valéria Gomes Costa narrates her academic trajectory in undergraduate studies at UFPE and postgraduate studies at UFBA, highlighting her family origins, intellectual and academic influences. It analyzes changes in historiography, studies on Africans and the importance of archival research, evaluating the role of black and black researchers and their insertions.
