Abstract
Iamara Viana da Silva narrates her academic trajectory in undergraduate studies at UFRJ and postgraduate studies at UERJ. She remembers her personal career choices and professional opportunities, highlighting her family origins and the context of social movements at the end of the 20th century. She analyzes changes in historiography, their international academic experiences and their concerns about the role of intellectuals in teaching history.
